Mike Brown -
I have been playing guitar for my own pleasure and entertainment since I was in my teens but I only took up the bass guitar in the early nineties when - in the pub one night - as you do!, a few of us decided to form a band for our own entertainment, not to go gigging. However, following a sunday afternoon session a few weeks later, I was approached by a drummer who I knew who asked if I would like to join him and a couple of others to form a Country Rock four piece doing the pub/club circuit in the North East of England. And that was my introduction to live performing.
As well as providing backing vocals, I am also the “technician” for the band looking after the sound systems, power and lighting etc.
My musical influences are wide ranging, I listen to everything from seventies prog rock (Yes, Mike Oldfield etc.) to bands like Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac and many other bands/musicians over the years from many different genres.
On stage, I usually use my Ibanez BTB five string bass which goes through a BOSS ME50B effects board into my TC Electronics RH750 bass head and TC Electronic RS210 and RS212 cabinets.
